Here's the band talking about how this Etienne-born song went from
underground club hit to Top Ten single.

7 Ways To Love sounded like a good single but was too
cheesy for Saint Etienne. We'd have been finished overnight. So we
pressed some white labels with Sarah singing under the Cola Boy
pseudonym and they flew out. [This is the rather rare version titled
7 Ways 2 Love - Anthony] It was a massive underground hit,
which made us laugh because nobody knew who it was. We were absolutely
broke, so it was to get some money. When Arista picked it up, we
couldn't do it with Sarah because she was totally Saint Etienne. So
we redid it with a friend of hers. And to front it for PAs and
Top Of The Pops was Boy Naughty from Peterborough -
remember him?

Then it was covered by this Japenese singer, Nokko - we wrote and
produced it with morewords and a rap bit, and we wrote the album's
title track, Call Me Nightlife. It sold 400,000 copies on
Japanese Epic.
